 Den 2. september 2012 fyldte professor Ole Lando 90 år. I anledningen af fødselsdagen udgives dette festskrift, hvor kolleger hylder et livslangt bidrag til international privatret og den komparative rets områder.Lando er æresdoktor ved tre europæiske universiteter og har fået flere forskningspriser tildelt. Blandt dem er den tyske Humboldt-Forschungspreis für ausländische Geisteswissenschaftler og Den nordiske Juristpris, med motiveringen: "et omfattende og dybtgående internationalt retligt og retssammenlignende forfatterskab af stor betydning for den nordiske og i højere grad den europæiske retsudvikling". Ole Lando har altid været af den mening, at der ikke findes nogen sand retsvidenskab, som kan lukke sig inde i studiet af national ret alene, og derfor er dette festskrift naturligvis på engelsk og med mange forskellige bidragsydere. Bogen er udgivet med støtte af Margot og Thorvald Dreyers Fond.
